영화미디어학자로 Activism and Post-activism: Korean Documentary Cinema, 1981-2022 (Oxford University Press, 2024), Documentary’s Expanded Fields: New Media and the Twenty-First-Century Documentary (Oxford University Press, 2022), Between Film, Video, and the Digital: Hybrid Moving Images in the Post-media Age (Bloomsbury Academic, 2018/16)를 출간했고, Cinema Journal, Screen, Camera Obscura, Animation: An Interdisciplinary Journal, Film Quarterly, and Millennium Film Journal 등에 논문을 발표했다. 대우재단 학술연구지원 선정작 『위기미디어: 위태로운 21세기 사회와 미디어의 확장 』을 2025년 9월 대우학술총서(아카넷)로 출간 예정이며, Mathemagical Media: Generative AI and Images (under contract with Bloomsbury Academic)을 2026년 하반기 출간을 목표로 작업 중이다.

Jihoon Kim is professor of cinema and media studies at Chung-ang University. He is the author of Activism and Post-activism: Korean Documentary Cinema, 1981-2022 (Oxford University Press, 2024), Documentary’s Expanded Fields: New Media and the Twenty-First-Century Documentary (Oxford University Press, 2022) and Between Film, Video, and the Digital: Hybrid Moving Images in the Post- media Age (Bloomsbury Academic, 2018/16), and his essays have appeared in Cinema Journal, Screen, Camera Obscura, Animation: An Interdisciplinary Journal, Film Quarterly, andMillennium Film Journal, among others. Currently he is working on two book projects, Crisis Media: Expanding Media in the Precarious Twenty-First Century, and The Mathemagical Media: On Generative AI, respectively.
